Slumdog Millionaire

I couldn’t decide what to do this evening. I figured I could stay in and read, stay in and put a workbook together, stay in and browse randomly for a few hours, or venture into the cold and see Slumdog Millionaire. I chose the latter on a whim. I did not regret it.

It’s about a boy from the Mumbai slums who enters Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I thought it was radiant. I’d recommend avoiding the a) godawful b) spoiler-ful trailer1 – if the premise piques your interest, that’s probably enough.

The only thing that marred it very slightly was being in the cinema. I was on my own, and in the midst of the finale I suddenly felt silly getting emotional in a big room full of people. So I only cried a bit, rather than quite a lot more than a bit. But that’s me. I’m sure I’ll see it at home in the future and properly live and die with it.

Danny Boyle’s four for four now. Pretty good going. Also, I must buy the soundtrack.

  1. as opposed to the Frost/Nixon trailer I saw beforehand, which was fantastic. Can’t wait for that one. []
