Strictly Come Dancing tickets now available by lottery

2008 Update: Googlers searching for tickets should head over to the only official source, the BBC Tickets website. It’s a random draw, and entries must be placed by Sunday 7th September. Good luck!

Being rather a fan of Strictly Come Dancing, I last year spent three hours on the phone in an ultimately successful attempt to get tickets, and a fine evening was had by all. Ten months later and the new series is rapidly approaching.

I didn’t mention at the time - on the off (and possibly paranoid) chance that it affected my application - that I found a way to cheat manipulate the phone system. I was dialling once every five seconds, averaging one connected call every forty minutes. Once through, a menu system told me to ‘press 1 to be put through to an operative’. This I did, and I’d promptly get cut off. After a couple of hours they’d fixed this problem, and five minutes of waiting resulted in a message saying ‘our phone lines are busy, please try again later, or press 2 to hear about other bbc shows’. The thing was, pressing 2 didn’t provide more information, it sent me back to the first option, where I could press 1 to be put through to an operative. Having actually managed to get through I was loathe to disconnect, so I looped the menu systems continually and eventually got lucky. I felt kinda bad about fudging the system in this way, even if I didn’t really do anything wrong.

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of last year, I wasn’t relishing the prospect of trying again, especially as it feels a little unfair to go two years in a row when other fans would love the opportunity. Thankfully, the BBC emailed today to say this series’ tickets will be allocated by a lottery, which everybody has until 18th September to enter. This is much fairer. I have never been to anything like this before and i watch the show religiously every year that it is on. I would LOVE to go and i think it would be the most fantastic experence. PLEASE!!!!!

I rang and rang last year and then registered for the draw this year but still no luck. Would it be a better idea to (a) hold the series in larger premises and (b) not have quite so many celebrities taking up the seats and let the general public (who pay for this with our licence fee) have the tickets?

i would love to get 3 tickets for any of the strictly shows, I am a massive fan and have watched every episode, I have just had a beautiful baby boy and relish the thought of a night out with my mum and sister to see the fab show with all its glitter and glam outfits!!!

Last year I tried my hardess to get tickets for strictly and could not get them….please help.
I absolutely adore the show and feel that it is the
best Saturday Entertainment show since Brucie was in Generation Game.
I cannot abide the x factor, but i am pleading please can I have tickets for Strictly Come Dancing.

I do not have any tickets, I’m afraid, nor do I know any clever ways of getting hold of them. The original random draw by the BBC was the only way, as far as I’m aware.

i would love 2 tickets so that i can do something special for my mum and dad who are always doing wonderful things for me since my husband left me and our 2 children. i have tried and tried to get tickets

Please please please can I have 3 tickets for my mum and her two friends. She is always there for me to help as often as possible with my children. I tried last year to get her tickets for Dancing on Ice and couldnt get them and have tried for Strictly Come Dancing and cant get them either. She is the worlds biggest fan of both of these shows. Going by past years, I imagine the draw will open in September. It’ll likely be publicised on the BBC ticket page, which can currently be found here.

Please may I have 4 tickets for a fab end to a very bad year! we have been through hell in the past 2 years. We had to sell our house last year, My Mother-in law past away from Cancer, We have not been able to sell her old house because of the poor housing market, My father has been poorly with a hip operation but hopefully he we be on his feet soon. I would love to be able to see all the dancers up close to view all the lovely dresses and just put the last 2 years behind us. My Husband has just been accepted into next years London marathon to raise money for Cancer Reserch a charity very close to or hearts as he also lost his Dad to the same deseise. We would be most greatfull for a chance to see Strictly.

Please, please, please can you give me 2 tickets, not asking for a lot just 2. Have had a crap 14 months and this would really make up for it. Will not beg and go into detail about what has happened as it always looks like people make up stories to get tickets etc but I Have never won anything before and this would be a fab gift to me!

My Mum and I LOVE strictly and i would love to take her ot one of the shows!

Sh ehas had a really hard year! She has been diagnosed with cancert and is struggling to get through it as her sister recently passed away from a similar type of cancer.

I really would make her year so much better oif she could go and see strictly!

My Mum and I love Strictly, it would be absolutely fantastic if we could get tickets for any of the live shows. Her birthday is in October and turning 82, so it would be a real surprise if I could whisk her up to London for the day/evening to see the show.

i pay my licence fee so there for pay the wages for the bbc employees. so why is the audience full of celebritites and not ordanery tax payers like us.

My dad has been trying to get tickets to take my mum to this for every series. They are both such big fans. So i would love two tickets to give them the opportunity to go and watch what they love.

I would love to see strictly come dancing with my family. We all love Anton Du Beke but he never gets very far. It would be fantastic to get the oppurtunity to see all the dancers perform.

My bestest friend’s birthday is next week, she has been so special and helps everyone at the drop of a hat, I would love to be able to take her with me and drool over all the beautiful dresses and reward her hard work with this special treat….is there anyone out there who could make our dreams come true with 2 tickets . . . . please…!!!!!!!!
