Here's one for you Atticus - why don't you bake this for Derren and send it to him, care of his manager Michael Vine, I'm sure he'd be delighted:

LEMON DRIZZLE CAKE

Ingredients
2 large eggs

175g (6oz) sugar

150g (5oz) soft butter or margarine

grated zest of 1 lemon

175g (6oz) super-sifted self-raising flour

125ml (4floz) milk

pinch of sea salt

For the lemon syrup:

150g (5oz) icing sugar

50ml (2floz) fresh lemon juice (about 1½ large lemons)

Method
Makes 8-10 servings. Best eaten freshly baked. Keeps 1 week under refrigeration in an airtight container. Freezes up to 3 months.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F/Gas 4). Line the bottom of a well-oiled 23 x 13 x 7.5cm (9 x 5 x 3in) loaf tin with baking parchment.

Put the eggs and sugar in the bowl of the food processor and process for 2 minutes, scraping the sides down once with a rubber spatula. Take off the lid and drop spoonfuls of the soft butter or margarine on top of this mixture, together with the lemon zest, then pulse just until it disappears. The mixture should now resemble mayonnaise.

Add the flour, milk and salt, cover and pulse just until the mixture is smooth in texture and even in colour, scraping the sides down with a rubber spatula if necessary. Do not over-beat or the cake will be tough.

Spoon the cake mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 45 minutes, until golden brown on top and firm to the touch. Remove from the oven and stand the tin on a cooling rack. To make the syrup, gently heat the sugar and lemon juice in a small saucepan, stirring until a clear syrup is formed, about 3 minutes. Do not boil.

Prick the warm cake all over with a fork, then gently pour the syrup over it, until it has been completely absorbed.

Leave until cool, then carefully ease the cake from the baking tin and remove the baking parchment.

Just before serving, sift a little more icing sugar on the top. Serve in generous slices.

Pour the mixture into a serving bowl, and chill for two or three hours until set.

hello again

no one was replying to my last, and true, post. so i was bored and decided to read through the descusions and debates again.
and i think i have the show pretty much worked out! lets start with

the box and the scroll!

i agree with (someone i cant find the number of post or the name) the person that said it was switched (please post back whoever said this) when derren collapsed. yes i think someone did write this scroll back stage. but! when i was there the scroll mentioned shoes. this was a thought object from a boy who was sent back to his seat by derren because derren thought he wasnt very good for the mind read. also he wrote 'someone works for algore'and sure enough in one of the private boxes a lady stands up and says she does! also he crossed out a name wich said 'rebekka' and the girl said thats her name and thats how she spells it. perhaps coops went in there to ask how the show was and got to know her a bit.

the table turn!

its called muscle movements. yes they are moving the pendelum. derren has mentioned it hundreds of times in his TV work, i cant believe no one thought of it! its the same with the table (someone i cant remember) said that he was running after the table so his hand were on it and he was running, perhaps you were pushing? you will say you wernt because you went. well you feel as if you wernt but you 100% were!

The first mind read stunt

no doubt in my mind derren can 'read minds' it sickens me to say but it is influencing people to think and say prticular things. also its to do with... i dont know but its interesting

Another thing

through out the show derren does the 'blind eye' tricks like spot the gorrilas on the table tennis (i did but i wasnt counting because i knew what he was doing!) and the gorrila taking the banana i saw it becausue when derren went to the opposite side of the stage i looked at the banana! also derren does the 'dont look at my hand' thingy. so the whole show is based on things you dont see! so obviously the boxed was a trick!

Money in the box

i dont understand why every one thinks this is a fake. it isnt he influenced people to say 500 and they do. he does that sort of thing al the time!

it irritates me that people think the whole thing is a fake. some of it is! but not all. its because theres no rational answer so you say NO FAKE!
but i do have one more piece of evidense that it could have been faked.

ive read another post (again i cant find it sigh) that said derren read a mans mind and told him someone saw him steal the person who saw was called a jake or jacob. the exacte same question was asked at my show(i am 100% sure they were differnt shows!)

thank you very much for your time

please post back im thinking its come to an end!

Good God

im atticus and im thirteen.

i did go to derrens latest show 'Amazing' i have been reading your devates about it and so one but none of your stories are as interesting as mine(sorry to boast) its not about the show its abou an email and this is it.

Did you mean to send me a message?
Michael has suggested we meet in week beg 21 July or following week. Can I suggested a lunch somewhere? When are you free in that period? I can't do 21st or 22nd.
Greg

this is a message sent to me but it was ment to be for derren himself!
in my msn account, when you set it up, you have to tpe in your name. i didnt trust it and at the time i was reading derren brown tricks of the mind so i loked around for a name and sure enough i chose derren. at the time i didnt know it would cause such a cuffufle.
all i was doing was emailing the addres from the derren brown site about the bookings of derren. but i sent a blank email just so i could add him as a contact(you have o send an email to add a contact) when 'greg' recived this message from me it said it was from derren brownso he thaught derren emailed him and he wrote that back to me!

i was very confused so i wrote an innecent message asking about what it ment and all sorts of things about derrens performances and so on.
then i realised what was going on and i emailed him explaining.

i got so close!!

now i have one of derrens clsest coliqeus email! and i have coops' email too im so close, closer than anyone!!!!

Tom, no, I never saw Derren doing 'seeing with fingers' live on stage. And to my knowledge, no one else has claimed as such. Here is what Ian originally wrote:

"No derren didn’t perform the seeing with fingertips routine at the Newcastle show. However after finally meeting him after the show, i told him that it was my favourite routine and he asked if i had a wallet on me."

Davo, yes it is, so it is effectively a Svengali, but roughed too so the deck can be shuffled by a spectator and spread to show different cards before they chose... Derren employs both of these subtleties in his show....

Thankyou.

Is a Mirage Deck that one with Short 'n' Long cards, with every other card the same? I got given a deck like that when I was my kid, and it was the first thing I thought of when I heard that trick described.
