IF people get a spam problem with mail being sent to anything@user.freeserve.co.uk coming into your mailbox in Outlook (Express), then change the username to the full email address you have. Then only mail sent to that address will be delivered to your Outlook (Express) inbox.

As per Col, I can't seem to get Gmail's fetch to work with a fsnet.co.uk address.

Google has established and seems happy with the POP3 details, but it hasn't yet transferred any emails across, nor does it pick up the test emails I'm sending. Any ideas as to get around it?

This workaround has had a pretty darn good run. Orange was never going to merrily support Freeserve forever and users have had plenty of time to migrate onto the newer orange email accounts. I set this up for a client about 3 months back such that they'd receive both sets of emails but send using the new account. Worked out to be very fortuitous timing!

That's OK, I do like to try and help where I can. If there are any further problems involving fsmail accounts with regards to Gmail, do post a reply.

(I hope they do sort out the POP3 problem soon, as I'm currently having to run a Fsmail and a Gmail account seperately.

Yeah I've tried all the different variations of username I can think of. Annoying. Oh well, thanks for the help anyway.

When you are entering the details, are you using your full email address or just the part before the @fsmail.net? I have found that entering only the part before @fsmail.net often causes this error - see if entering the full email address (including @fsmail.net) makes any difference.

From what I can see though, I think it is likely to still be a problem unless Orange decide to allow @fsmail.net addresses to be viewed using POP/POP3 (I think that is still a problem when I last checked which was last week)

When I click on show error details it tells me "[AUTH] Invalid login/password pair" but both username and password are definitely correct.

I've just checked it on my Gmail account, and mine comes up as 'unknown command' (You will need to click 'show error details to see if that is the same' - if it is, then I think it's due to the fact that @fsmail.net accounts are not designed for accessing via POP3/IMAP (something to do with Orange).

If anyone has found a way round that problem, I will be interested in hearing about it.

Hey there. I've been looking to set up my fsmail.net email account with gmail so I can access them on my iPhone. I've followed your instructions however when I get to the "Enter the email settings for *******@fsmail.net" page it keeps telling me "Server denied POP3 access for the given username and password." even though they are both definitely correct. Any suggestions?
