I guess this is why Supes is sometimes written as a little dumb when he's around Batman. If S were as intelligent as normal B wouldn't stand a chance. Superman would win in "real life." Batman would win in a comic book. Unlike Batman, Superman *is* a superhero. To quote Kill Bill Volume 2, "Superman did not become Superman, Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, he's Superman." Which is why Batman would win in a comic book. Or a movie, tv show, dramatic three-act-structure -- whatever. When he wakes up, he's not Batman -- he's Bruce Wayne. You see, Batman is the underdog. He's the one that we, the audience, would (or, at least, should) find it easier to relate to. He gets by on his own steam. (Ignore the fact that he inherited millions of dollars from his parents -- that's not the point.) He has to be resourceful. He doesn't have the same intrinsic brute strength that Superman takes for granted -- Batman has to work for his abilities, and he is clever enough to make/buy gadgets that make up for the fact that he wasn't born a superhero. Because of this, Batman winning the fight would obviously make for a better, more dramatic storyline. Then again, maybe Batman's superpower is just his enormous bank account. I dunno. ...
