Just watching a BBC2 documentary on acupuncture. The primary exhibit is a girl undergoing heart surgery without a general anaesthetic. Certainly sounds interesting, yet…
Although sedated by drugs, and her chest numbed, [the girl] will go through the operation conscious.
Ummm…sedated by drugs, and her chest numbed (presumably by drugs), but it’s all done by acupuncture. Oooook.
I’ll reserve judgement on this show until the end ![]()

Acupuncture is a centuries-old chinese method of healing. Acupuncture is the insertion of really fine needles (sometimes in conjunction with electric current). Acupuncture is something that has mystified and baffled scientists researchers and the public for some time.

It’s all very well saying that, but the evidence seems to be against you. Can you point me towards any evidence that acupuncture has the beneficial effects you claim on your site?
