I wanted a quiet computer, so we installed a ninja fanless heatsink. I can’t believe how big it is. I’m scared it’s going to fall off, ripping the CPU from the socket in the process. It makes my case very quiet indeed, though
Thats unfortunate. That almost looks like the antenna that we used to communicate with the Zorgon Galactic Empire. I can give you their voicemail number if you need it. Its on Skype so it shouldn’t be too expensive for you
Excuse me, but I think you have a motherboard on your heatsink…
I just fitted a new low-noise (though rather smaller, and still fan-equipped) heatsink yesterday - now I’m being annoyed by the sound of the HDDs in my system!
Case quieting is a slippery slope. The first time I tried I was impressed for about a day before it sounded too loud again. More annoying though is spending time, effort and money on the problem and then coming across a store bought machine which appears to sound quieter.
For once I agree with a slippery slope argument. It is, however, fantastic when you get it very quiet. With Ben’s you have to hold your breath to pick it up.
It’ll be interesting to see how loud mine sounds when I’m alone in my flat!

I’m not convinced that thing will fit inside a single bedroom apartment though. How did you ever get up high enough to take the aerial shot?
It’s not an aerial, it’s a heatsink
