I just listened to the final episode of Scott Sigler’s EarthCore podcast novel, and am very impressed. For those of you unaware of the concept, a podcast is a downloadable audio file suitable for adding to your iPod or other MP3 player. You can download them manually from the website, or if you add the feed to iTunes or other podcatching application, new episodes will be downloaded automatically, ready to be added next time you synchronize your player. In this case the author read out his story in roughly 45-minute segments, releasing one new episode every week.
The first episode was released on March 24th, although I didn’t catch on to until mid June, and I’ve spent many of my walks listening to the story unfold. I enjoyed it very much, and am sad that it’s over 🙁 I thought the story was interesting with an impressive level of tension throughout, leading up to the appropriate conclusion. I donated $10 just now, as > 17 hours of good entertainment is certainly worth paying for, in my opinion.
Scott Sigler’s new podcast novel, Ancestor, will be released on Sept. 11th. There’s already a feed address you can subscribe to.I’m looking forward to it!
