Interesting. I would always get a headache within 2 seconds of attempting to use binoculars. Personally though, I think an observatory would have been a better bet. Especially since you would have to move to a better location too. All your problems solved in one go. Except money. And, err, other stuff I suppose. But, all your problems solved! ;) Long eye relief? There are twisty bits on the eyepieces so that your eyes aren't pressed right up against the glass, which works very well.
