360° view from the top of Everest (Quicktime needed). Avant gets a bit confused, but it works. Thanks Fark.
Also, how about this for a clock. Many other extremely cool Christmas gifts for…ahem…raises hand…here.
Penny Arcade this morning tipped me off to Wonderful Days. To say that the trailer is spectacular would be a vast understatement…You owe it to yourself to watch it
I emailed O2 yesterday morning and just received the following reply:
Dear O2 Customer,
Thank you for you [sic] email.
Due to technical difficulties we are unable to deal with your email at this time.
In order to resolve your query we ask that you please ring the number published on the reverse of your paper bill, where an agent will be happy to assist. We have increased the number of staff taking calls to ensure that your query is dealt with.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
It’s nice that they took nearly a day to tell me this, don’t you think? The helpline number is 50p per minute, too.
UPDATE @ 13:10: I rang the helpline, and it doesn’t work! I just get a permanent tone. This is Just Silly.
Santa was here! Outside! I didn’t see him though. By the time the elf had arrived at my door the Big Red Man had turned the corner and gone, along with all the Lions, or Rotary Clubbers, or whatever…:-(
I haven’t decided what to do with my phone yet. It has been pointed out to me that a mobile phone is not a necessity, and I agree. However unlike most gadgets I feel a hell of a lot safer with a phone in my pocket. If I can play Bounce on it too, all the better
I filled up a petrol can today…Never before have I done this. It worried me. I thought, naïvely, that a petrol pump detected it was ok to pump petrol by some kind of electrical contact at the end of the nozzle. No. It’s just based on whether the nozzle is connected to its holder. Hmmm. Would it not be easy for some psycho to start spraying petrol everywhere? I’ve never heard of this happening, mind.
If you want to see what York looks like at Christmas, I’ve uploaded a few pics. See here, here, here, here, here and here.
Due to popular demand, I return!
I had a good time in York. Kate and I saw “Love Actually” and “Master and Commander” as well as going to a youth theatre production. York looks very pretty in all its Christmas livery, and with Sunday evening’s fog I hopefully got some atmospheric photos. Due to a complete lack of forethought we spent hours on Sunday trying to find an advent calendar that wasn’t The Hulk, Fimbles or Barbie. We eventually discovered a pretty one at the back of Alders, and snapped it up.
I got back today at about half past 3. There were over 200 emails waiting for me, most of them spam/mailing list, as well as two magazines, a newsletter and a shiny blue box from O2. I went through my emails and opened the letter before finally turning my full attention to the little cube containing my new phone. At the top of the box was my invoice, then a welcome note from O2 explaining the full details of my contract. All very professional and nice. Underneath was the Nokia box. I pulled this out, then noticed something strange on the packaging. Hoping it wasa mistake, I opened the box to find a 7250i. A nice phone to be sure, but not what I had ordered, and £150 cheaper, despite the correct phone and total being on the invoice
I think I’m going to ditch O2, since it would appear that they suck!
